The pride of Hervey Bay.

The Dingoes started with a simple idea: wheelchair basketball belongs in Hervey Bay, and so does everyone who plays it.

Our story

We're a group of wheelchair basketball players who wanted somewhere to play, and a community that gets it without needing an explanation. Hervey Bay didn't have that. So we built it.

From day one, this has been about more than basketball. It's about people who couldn't play mainstream sport finding a club, a team, and a community that's truly theirs. It's about families watching someone they love do something they never thought possible. And it's about a whole community that's about to get a lot louder on game day.

We started small. One program, a handful of players, and a lot of borrowed gear and goodwill. That's still how it works: we show up, we put in the work, and the club gets a little stronger every week. We know where this could go, and we're in no rush, because the good stuff is being built right now

What we stand for

We're here for the players who need this sport most, and for everyone who shows up alongside them: family, friends, coaches, and the people who stack the chairs and lock the doors at the end of the night.

We want this to feel like your club. Your team. Your town getting behind something that matters.

Wheelchair basketball is one of the most inclusive sports going. You don't need to use a wheelchair in daily life to play, and on court, everyone competes together. That's not a footnote, it's the whole point. We're building a club where everyone gets a real run, and where the sport stays true to the people who love it most.

We're proud to be one of the most active women's programs in the region. That didn't happen by accident. It's the training sessions, the lifts to comp, and the players who turned up not knowing anyone and stuck around to bring the next person in.

“Wheelchair basketball has created lifelong friendships and opened doors to new opportunities.”

~ Jess O'Neill, Dingoes Player

We are the Hervey Bay Dingoes!

Wherever this goes, it starts here. With a training session on a quiet weeknight. With a player who turned up not knowing anyone and kept coming back. With a town slowly learning the Dingoes' name. We're doing the small work, week in and week out, because that's what builds something that lasts.

Piece by piece, on the right foot, together.
